Ripple and LMAX Group Strike $150M Deal to Expand Institutional Stablecoin Adoption

Ripple’s RLUSD will help with spot crypto trading, selected fiat pairs, and perpetual futures on LMAX’s platform.

handshake with two hands

Ripple and LMAX Group announced a $150 million partnership to hasten institutional adoption of stablecoins in global financial markets. The multi-year deal integrates Ripple’s USD-pegged stablecoin, RLUSD, as core collateral across LMAX’s regulated trading platforms to enhance efficiency.

This inclusion will improve liquidity and efficiency. David Mercer, CEO of LMAX Group, called the partnership a “key moment” that shows strong growth in their cross-asset strategy. The effort aims to connect traditional finance with digital assets, especially as global regulations become clearer.

Ripple’s Operational Integrations

Ripple’s RLUSD will support spot crypto trading and perpetual futures on LMAX’s platform. This enables clients to better use cross-collateralization, improving how assets are used for margin funding and settlements. LMAX Custody will ensure secure custody by using separate wallets.

The method streamlines transfers between traditional finance and digital ecosystems. LMAX Kiosk, which provides institutional on-ramps, will allow 24/7 trading of various FX and digital products using RLUSD as collateral. The collaboration links LMAX Digital, the group’s digital assets exchange, with Ripple Prime, Ripple’s multi-asset prime brokerage service.

Additionally, this connection gives Ripple Prime clients access to strong institutional liquidity, accurate price discovery, and reduced market fragmentation and counterparty risk. Overall, the setup positions the RLUSD as a bridge for on-chain settlements, overcoming the issues of traditional fiat systems in around-the-clock operations.

Strategic Financing and Executive Perspectives

Ripple’s recent $150 million raise follows a record year in 2025, during which it facilitated $8.2 trillion in institutional client trading. The exchange’s RLUSD emerged as one of the leading USD-backed stablecoins, boasting a market cap exceeding $1.3 billion. This success is strengthened by Ripple’s extensive portfolio of over 75 licenses worldwide, which ensures compliance for its institutional users.

Jack McDonald, Senior Vice President of Stablecoins at the exchange, noted that an increasing number of institutions are recognizing the potential of blockchain technology to enhance financial markets. He added that the partnership will expedite the adoption of RLUSD in advanced trading environments.

Furthermore, LMAX’s CEO highlighted that fiat-backed stablecoins can bridge the gap between traditional and digital finance, with RLUSD at the forefront of this transformation, thanks to clearer regulations both in the U.S. and internationally. Together, the leaders aim to foster a more efficient and streamlined global financial system powered by regulated stablecoins.
