ZEC, a native token of the Zcash network and a privacy-focused decentralized crypto asset, has surged to a new eight-year high, surpassing the $1,000 mark. The latest increase comes a week after Grayscale announced the launch of a Zcash exchange-traded product on NYSE Arca.
According to data from CoinGecko, ZEC is up 20.8% over the last 24 hours. The asset has traded at $27.5 and $56.8, respectively, in the last few days. Its market cap of more than $16.905 billion and 24 hour trading volume of approximately $1.25 billion show increasing investor interest.
ZEC Surges as ETF Momentum Builds
The ZEC token also has a maximum supply of $21M. On August 22, 2026, the ZEC token first soared above 40% as Grayscale targeted the first U.S. Zcash ETF.
Trading under the ticker ZCSH, the product marks a significant milestone for Zcash. The product is the first ETF globally designed to provide exposure to ZEC. This gives investors access to the asset through a traditional brokerage account rather than requiring them to purchase, store, and secure the asset themselves. Additionally, instead of navigating wallets, exchanges, and private keys, investors can gain exposure to ZEC via a familiar exchange-traded structure.
Meanwhile, the recent surge is no surprise as many crypto assets have reached and surpassed several price marks. The current market activity also may have contributed to ZEC’s new high. Over the past month, the crypto market has seen favorable moves, causing new traders to profit and other assets to recover.
A Network Built Around Privacy
Notably, for years, Zcash has occupied a spot in the crypto market, built around financial transaction privacy. While Bitcoin transactions are recorded on a transparent public ledger, Zcash uses privacy technology to enable shielded transactions.
The network has also evolved. Major upgrades, including Sapling in 2018, Orchard and NU5 in 2022, and Ironwood in July 2026, have focused on making privacy transactions more efficient and accessible. Zcash’s ongoing development across wallets and infrastructure has further strengthened the network’s underlying ecosystem.
Grayscale’s predecessor Zcash investment vehicle launched as a private placement in October 2017. This makes it one of the earliest investment products tailored to provide exposure to ZEC without requiring investors to directly hold the token.
