Ethereum Flips Bitcoin in ETF Inflows Over Six Days Stretch

BlackRock's ETHA's meteoric rise pushed its AUM past $10 billion in 251 trading days, making history.

The United States spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) space has witnessed explosive growth, led by major asset management firms, over the last six trading days. This comes as institutional interest in ethereum (ETH) surges.

Data from Farside Investors revealed that spot Ether ETFs attracted approximately $2.4 billion in net inflows, significantly outpacing spot Bitcoin ETFs, which saw just $827 million during the same timeframe.

Institutional Demand for ETH Surges

According to the report, BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum ETF (ETHA) experienced the most significant net inflow among its peers. It amassed approximately $1.79 billion. This represents almost 75% of the total Ether ETF inflows over the specified six-day interval.

While other digital asset products have recorded substantial inflows and values, ETHA is breaking records. It surged over $10 billion in AUM in only 251 trading days, making it one of the fastest-growing ETFs in history.

Furthermore, Fidelity’s FETH marked a new milestone, pulling in $210 million in net inflows. This surpasses its former peak of $202 million, recorded on December 10, 2024, representing a 4% improvement, and trails behind BlackRock.

In recent times, there is an increasingly high demand for ETH by institutions. This comes at a time when the asset achieved its latest feat of $3,765, significantly lower than the $4,400 price mark reached in 2021. However, the crypto is seeing better days, currently trading at $3,708.

Institutions Turn to ETH for Treasury Reserves

According to data from CoinGecko, ETH represents a 1.8% increase. It also has an impressive $15.196 billion trading volume and a market cap of over $447.6 billion. While this sounds hopeful to the crypto community as ETH approaches $4,000, several institutions are strategically seeking the asset for treasury purposes.

Like bitcoin (BTC), the leading crypto by market cap, prominent firms also view altcoins as a hedge against inflation and currency devaluation. For instance, crypto mining BitMine has surpassed holding $2 billion in ETH. This follows the entity’s closure of a $250 million private placement to further strengthen its Ethereum treasury strategy.

The ether buying spree does not end here. Recently, Texas-based entertainment and media company GameSquare announced that it has acquired 8,351.89 ETH, worth approximately $30 million. The move followed the board’s decision to increase its management authorization from $100 million to $250 million.
