Democrats Launch “Crypto for Harris” Campaign to Attract 40M Voters

Democrats have launched a "Crypto for Harris" advocacy group to secure votes from over 40 million Americans who own crypto.

The US Democratic Party has launched a strategic advocacy group to challenge Donald Trump’s growing influence within the crypto sector. Dubbed “Crypto for Harris,” the initiative is part of a coordinated effort to attract over 40 million American voters who own crypto.

Democrats’ Crypto Advocacy Group

According to FOX Business, the group has around 50 members, and its main organizers are industry participants and experts.

The group plans to host a virtual town hall meeting next week that will host prominent figures like billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban, SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci, and several Democratic members of the House of Representatives and Senate leaders.

The meeting, open to the public, will discuss ways to support the Kamala Harris campaign and promote fundraising efforts.

Race for Crypto Votes

The latest development is part of Democrats’ move to fight Trump‘s growing influence within the crypto sector and convince over 40 million American crypto investors that the Democrats are the real crypto party.

As part of his campaign, Trump has made significant efforts in recent months to win the hearts of crypto investors. At a San Francisco fundraiser in June, Trump touted himself as “the crypto president” and promised to end Gary Gensler’s anti-crypto policies once elected president. The following month, he headlined the biggest Bitcoin conference in Nashville, where he made some pro-crypto statements and raised $21 million from attendees.

Trump campaign has raised approximately $25 million from the sector since it started accepting crypto donations in May.

While Trump has a huge head start in claiming crypto votes, Harris, on her part, is also making significant strides to secure votes from crypto investors. For instance, she added two former crypto advisers, David Plouffe and Gene Sperling, to her campaign last week.

“Bringing crypto experts like Plouffe and Sperling onto her campaign is a far more powerful statement than just standing up at a Bitcoin conference and pandering to the industry for votes. A Harris-Walz ticket brings the opportunity of a fresh start for our industry,” Moises “Moe” Vela, a former Biden adviser and now a senior adviser to crypto firm Unicoin, said in a statement.

Separately, Congressman Ro Khanna will host a private virtual meeting today featuring industry leaders and members of Harris’ campaign.
