Investment Bank Standard Chartered Predicts XRP to Reach $12.50 by 2028

Standard Chartered predicts that XRP will hit $12.50 before President Donald Trump's term ends.

Ripple XRP

Standard Chartered Bank has projected a significant appreciation in the value of XRP before President Donald Trump’s term ends. According to the bank, XRP will reach $12.50 by the end of 2028. At the time of writing, the asset exchanged hands at $4.23, representing a 1.96% increase in the last 24 hours.

XRP to Hit $12.50 Milestone in Three Years

In a recent report, Geoffrey Kendrick, the bank’s head of digital assets research, estimated that XRP will reach $5.50 by the end of this year, $8 by the end of 2026, $10.40 by the end of 2027, and $12.50 by the end of 2028. This projection is based on the expectation that the asset will see a sustained increase in transaction volumes and broader adoption as a payment solution in the crypto space.

The bank highlighted that XRP saw a sixfold increase after Donald Trump’s election. The increase was driven by expectations that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) would drop its appeal against Ripple and the potential approval of XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

The bank emphasized that these gains are sustainable not only due to the SEC’s leadership changes but also because the asset is uniquely positioned at the heart of one of the fastest-growing use cases for digital assets.

“XRP is uniquely positioned at the heart of one of the fastest-growing use cases for digital assets – facilitation of cross-border and cross-currency payments. XRPL is similar to the main use case for stablecoins such as Tether: blockchain-enabled financial transactions that have traditionally been done through traditional financial (TradFi) institutions,” Kendrick stated.

Furthermore, the analyst highlighted that Ripple plans to push XRPL, its decentralized public blockchain, into the tokenization space. Therefore, these positive factors will likely boost XRP  value to increase at a similar rate to Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency.

Moreover, the bank mentioned that XRPL has two flaws – the small number of developers and limited value capture. However, these limitations do not outweigh the positive developments pushing the network forward. Standard Chartered also predicts that stablecoin transactions are expected to increase tenfold in the next four years.
