Circle, the stablecoin-issuing company, has officially launched USDC natively on the Layer 1 blockchain XRP Ledger (XRPL). This significant move enables seamless access for developers, institutions, and retail users. The integration also eliminates the need for third-party bridges, streamlining USDC’s use on the ledger.

Circle Launches Native USDC on XRP Ledger
According to a press release, Circle’s institutional stablecoin creation platform, Circle Mint, and its developer-focused Circle API now support USDC on the XRPL. This expansion bolsters the stablecoin’s liquidity across the network.
Circle highlighted that USDC’s presence on the XRPL mainnet will enhance global money movement and improve capital efficiency across borders. Market makers can now bootstrap USDC liquidity pairs on XRPL, improving FX flows and decentralized trading depth.
Moreover, custodians, wallets, and fintech platforms can now integrate USDC more transparently, aiding compliance, settlement, and core infrastructure needs.
The USDC team sees this integration as an opportunity to extend the support of the stablecoin to 22 blockchains. According to current market data, USDC is the second-largest US dollar-backed stablecoin, with a market capitalization of over $61 billion.
With XRPL already gaining utility beyond payments, this integration allows access to increased liquidity, institutional access, and real-world applications throughout the crypto economy.
The XRP Ledger is associated with the cross-border payment company Ripple. As XRPL expands its use beyond payments, its integration with USDC marks a significant milestone. The move enhances liquidity, strengthens institutional access, and supports real-world applications across the crypto economy. The blockchain also plans to launch an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) sidechain in the second fiscal quarter of 2025.
XRPL’s Growing Stablecoin Ecosystem
With Circle’s addition of USDC, the XRPL now supports five fiat-backed stablecoins: XSGD, EURØP, RLUSD, USDB, and USDC. Ripple expects this growing stablecoin presence to attract increased institutional interest and enable new use cases across the network.
“As these stablecoins go live, expect new financial use cases to flourish—from DeFi lending markets and yield-bearing savings products to FX trading, payroll, and cross-border treasury flows. Developers will be able to build multi-currency payment rails using stablecoins natively supported on XRPL. Financial institutions can tap into these assets for compliant settlement, collateral, and tokenization strategies,” the firm stated.
