A crypto trader in the United Kingdom has reportedly lost $760,000 after three attackers broke into his home. They threatened him with knives and forced him to surrender his digital assets. Although the victim sustained some bruising, no life-threatening injuries were reported.

Crypto Trader Loses $760K at Knifepoint
The victim reported that the attackers restrained him with duct tape and demanded access to his crypto holdings while he struggled to protect himself.
The trader reported that about $40,000 vanished from his main wallets. Then, another $720,000 was stolen from a Ledger hardware wallet. This brings the total loss in digital assets to $760,000. The trader said the attackers also took a Rolex watch and broke his mobile phone.
After the incident, authorities reportedly combed the property. Still, no publicly available data indicates whether the suspects have been identified or arrested. It also remains unclear whether the attackers had researched his holdings beforehand or obtained information about his wealth through other means.
Rising Crypto Crimes
The reported British robbery reflects a wider pattern of violent crime targeting people believed to possess substantial crypto wealth. France, on its part, has experienced several particularly disturbing cases. In January 2025, Ledger co-founder David Balland and his partner were kidnapped. Balland suffered severe violence before authorities came to the rescue.
French investigators subsequently pursued suspects connected to other kidnappings and attempted abductions involving crypto entrepreneurs and their relatives. In February 2026, another reported case involved the abduction of a French magistrate and her mother, with attackers allegedly demanding cryptocurrency from the magistrate’s partner.
To reduce such incidents in the future, federal authorities have coordinated with law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and crypto industry representatives. This allows them to easily identify threats and investigate attacks. These efforts have resulted in several arrests and subsequent sentencing.
