The leading Singaporean digital asset exchange, Crypto.com, has entered an agreement with Emirates Airline to enable cryptocurrency payments for customers.

According to an official announcement, Emirates intends to implement the integration next year. From then on, customers will be able to settle their flight costs using Crypto.com’s payment systems.

Crypto.com Partners With Emirates Airline

During the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the partnership, several dignitaries from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were present. Some of them include His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the chairman and CEO of Emirates. The airline’s chief financial officer and deputy president, Michael Doersam and Adnan Kazim, were there as well.

In addition, Mohammed Al Hakim, the president of Crypto.com’s UAE operations, was present to commemorate the agreement.

It is worth mentioning that the MoU is not a legally binding document for the deal, but a formal agreement that outlines the parties’ intentions. It is just a preliminary step before drafting a contract for the arrangement.

Commenting on the partnership, Emirates’ Kazim said:

“Partnering with Crypto.com to integrate cryptocurrency into our digital payments system reflects Emirates’ commitment to meeting evolving customer preferences, in addition to tapping into younger, tech-savvy customer segments who prefer digital currencies. This strategic move is in line with Dubai’s vision to be at the forefront of financial innovation while at the same time providing our customers with greater flexibility and choice in how they transact with Emirates.”

Rising Adoption of Crypto Payments

While preparing for the integration, Crypto.com and the airline will utilize promotional campaigns to create awareness about the development. This aims to encourage the adoption of the new payment method.

“As we continue to expand the everyday use case for crypto, integration with exceptional partners such as Emirates will bring real momentum to the digital asset industry and enable both companies to offer genuine innovative finance solutions for our customers. We look forward to working together as we continue to build our crypto offering in the GCC,” stated Crypto.com’s president and chief operating officer, Eric Anziani.

The alliance between Emirates and Crypto.com reflects the UAE’s commitment to becoming a crypto-friendly country. Dubai has been positioning itself as a crypto hub, welcoming digital asset firms under a clear regulatory framework. Several Dubai entities already accept crypto payments, and many more are likely to follow suit in the coming years.
