Circle Internet Group, the company behind the popular USDC stablecoin, has announced a strategic partnership with Polymarket, one of the world’s largest prediction market platforms. The deal will transition Polymarket’s settlement system from bridged USDC (USDC.e) on Polygon to native USDC.
This integration allows traders to settle directly with Circle’s regulated stablecoin. The move highlights the growing influence of stablecoins beyond decentralized finance (DeFi).
Native USDC to Replace Bridged Collateral on Polymarket
Polymarket has attracted attention for its dynamic marketplace, where users trade on political events, economic forecasts, and other real-world outcomes. Until now, the platform has relied on bridged USDC, which introduces extra steps in settlement and potential inefficiencies.
By switching to native USDC, transactions will become simpler, faster, and fully regulated, providing users with a seamless dollar experience. The stablecoin is issued by Circle’s regulated affiliates and is redeemable 1:1 for US dollars, making settlements more reliable.
“Circle has built some of the most critical infrastructure in crypto, and partnering with them is an important step in strengthening prediction markets. Using USDC supports a consistent, dollar-denominated settlement standard that enhances market integrity and reliability as participation on the platform continues to grow,” said Shayne Coplan, Founder and CEO of Polymarket.
Meanwhile, Circle will ensure that Polymarket operates on a more efficient and secure financial layer, strengthening the infrastructure for prediction markets.
USDC Drives Polymarket Growth
Jeremy Allaire, Circle’s co-founder, emphasized that Polymarket has been at the forefront of innovation in combining the speed of information with market speed. He added that this collaboration brings the utility and speed of USDC to provide a better experience for prediction market users.
Additionally, with more predictable settlement mechanics and stronger regulatory alignment, Polymarket becomes more appealing to larger traders. Everyday users benefit from faster and safer transactions. Analysts note that the platform’s growing trading volume will boost USDC adoption, strengthening Circle’s position as a leading stablecoin issuer.
Recently, the Solana-based decentralized exchange Jupiter unveiled plans to bring Polymarket to the network for the first time. The platform will launch on Solana, letting users access prediction markets directly without needing to bridge assets. Notably, a $35 million investment from ParaFi Capital supports this expansion, reflecting confidence in the growth of on-chain prediction markets.
