Cardano to Release Audit in August Amid Public Threat of Defamation Lawsuit

Cardano founder anticipates August audit report release, plans defamation lawsuit against accusers for brand damage.

Cardano Founder Charles Hoskinson

Barely three months after facing accusations of misappropriating ADA coins, Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, anticipates the release of a comprehensive audit report in August. In parallel, Hoskinson is raising the specter of a defamation lawsuit against his accusers in advance of the public disclosure.

In a recent post on X, Hoskinson announced plans for the imminent release of an audit report concerning the handling of ADA tokens dating back to 2021. The audit seeks to clarify the ADA holdings of Input Output Global (IOG).

Charles Hoskinson Anticipates August Audit Release

Hoskinson indicated that he has received the initial draft of the audit report but is requesting further granularity in several critical areas before its public dissemination. He is targeting a mid-August release for the report, contingent upon satisfactory completion of these refinements, stating:

I just received the first copy of the audit report. I requested a lot more detail and context in several areas, but it’s shaping up quickly. I believe we are on schedule for a mid-August release, assuming the work continues at this pace and there are no delays.

Furthermore, Hoskinson is emphasizing complete transparency in the audit’s release, committing to reading the entire report via a livestreamed broadcast. Furthermore, a dedicated website will be established to host the report, ensuring accessibility for the Cardano community.

Joel Telpner, Chief Legal Officer of Input Output Global, corroborated Hoskinson’s timeline for the release. However, Telpner refrained from disclosing the identities of the law firm and audit firm conducting the investigation.

Concurrently with Hoskinson’s announcement, the price of Cardano (ADA) experienced a 4.19% rally, reaching $0.86, in line with broader gains in the cryptocurrency market.

Defamation Lawsuit

Allegations in May accused Hoskinson of misappropriating 350 million unclaimed ADA tokens, which led to the current situation. Hoskinson stated at the time that the accusations deeply hurt him, but he maintained his innocence steadfastly.

Hoskinson recently stated that he will meet with a law firm specializing in defamation cases soon. This has led people to guess that a lawsuit is coming. He claims the accusations have hurt Cardano’s brand by hundreds of millions of dollars. These claims come as some members of the Cardano community oppose plans to convert ADA reserves into stablecoins.

However, some community members worry that suing the individuals making accusations could harm Cardano. They are concerned that news outlets might distort the story, focusing on Hoskinson suing individuals who use the Cardano network.
