Binance Records $700M Net Gain Despite Withdrawal Campaign

The situation began when influencer Lew alleged that Binance was insolvent, citing the significant "10/10" market crash.

Binance recorded nearly $700 million in net inflows over 24 hours, according to DefiLlama’s centralized exchange transparency dashboard. The development unfolded during a social media-driven withdrawal campaign fueled by allegations of insolvency and claims of a market downturn.

Binance’s Co-founder, Yi He, described the episode as a constructive stress test for platforms. The outcome demonstrated user confidence, as increased asset holdings were achieved despite heightened fear, uncertainty, and doubt.

Origins of the Campaign

The situation began when influencer Lew (@Lewsiphur) alleged that Binance was insolvent, citing the significant “10/10” market crash. He shared an image of an alleged cease-and-desist letter purportedly issued by Binance, claiming it was intended to silence leaks of insider information. The push gained traction as some users, such as The White Whale (@TheWhiteWhale), urged actual exits during the bear market.

In response, Binance customer support quickly identified the document as a fake and warned users about misleading content and exaggerated claims. Yi He noted that asset levels in the exchange’s accounts increased after the campaign kicked off, interpreting the typical withdrawals as a positive sign of the platform’s resilience.

She emphasized the need to verify addresses to prevent irreversible losses and suggested using hardware wallets like OneKey for better self-custody. Meanwhile, community observations pointed to a pattern of coordinated messaging and repeated screenshots shared across various accounts, suggesting a collective effort rather than genuine concern.

Inflows Signal Platform Resilience

DeFiLlama data revealed deposits exceeding withdrawals, directly contradicting the campaign’s narrative of mass exits. The influx occurred amid bearish conditions, highlighting Binance’s liquidity strength. Independent data, however, consistently showed normal net flows and no significant stress on reserves, as users appeared to deposit funds to participate in launchpools and airdrop opportunities.

Binance remained calm amid the recent withdrawal issues, unlike what happened with FTX in the past. The exchange has continued to buy more Bitcoin using its SAFU fund, which helps build trust in asset security. Overall, major asset prices showed little change related to this event.

The episode illustrated the power of verifiable on-chain information over social media speculation. It also emphasized the risks of coordinated misinformation in crypto communities. Binance’s response turned potential pressure into evidence of operational durability and trust.
